WAS THAT HILLARY’S ” HAIL MARY PASS” IN LAST NIGHT’S DEBATE ?

Filed under: BARACK OBAMA, Bush, life, mideast, news, politics, war — gasdocpol @ 2:54 pm

In the debate, Hillary needed a line like “I served with John Kennedy. John Kennedy was my friend….. You’re no John Kennedy” or “Where’s the beef?” or “There you go again” so she let fly “If this campaign is going to be about words, the words need to be your own words….”

The line fell flat on it’s face and raised some boos and by the end of the debate she choked out that she was honored to be with Obama on the same stage and it was going to be “all right” whatever the outcome.

Hillary is smart enough to know that the tide has turned. At least that is the way it looked last night.

OBAMA IS MORE THAN SMALL TALK

Filed under: BARACK OBAMA, Bush, life, mideast, news, politics, war — gasdocpol @ 12:09 pm

Pilots fly planes. Surgeons do surgery. Polititians and lawyers talk. GW Bush is pretty good at small talk. Nixon was terrible at small talk. Reagan was called the “Great Communicator” (My take on that was that he delivered his lines very well). The ability to speak clearly and intellegently seems to be a very important quality for a President.

Consider the following lines of Obama in 2002. Can we write them off as “the gift of gab” or do they demonstrate a solid understanding of international relations and the rational use of military force? Would it not have been better if they were the words of our Commander-in-Chief when the invasion of Iraq was being considered?

“But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history.
I know that even a successful war against Iraq will require a US occupation of undetermined length, at undetermined cost, with undetermined consequences. I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda.
I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars.”

I would say that Obama had a pretty good overview of the Iraq situation back in October 2002. Contrast that with McCain who speaks of being there for the next 100 years.

HEY ! LETS STAY IN IRAQ 100 YEARS !

Filed under: BARACK OBAMA, Bush, life, mideast, news, politics, war — gasdocpol @ 2:53 pm

JOHN McCAIN IS NO HYPOCRITE . He spent 5 1/2 years in a POW camp. If he can endure years of torture so can we.

We can never admit that we should never have invaded Iraq.

That would be “Blaming America First”.

Cutting off your nose to spite your face shows character according to John McCain.

JOHN McCAIN IS A LOOSE CANNON

Filed under: BARACK OBAMA, Bush, life, mideast, news, politics, war — gasdocpol @ 2:47 am

McCAIN WANTS TO STAY IN IRAQ ANOTHER 100 YEARS.

McCain wants to continue GW Bush’s Iraq fiasco.

John McCain, bless his heart, left some of his marbles at the Hanoi Hilton.

DO WE WANT A WARMONGER LIKE McCAIN AS COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF ?

Filed under: BARACK OBAMA, Bush, Christmas, life, mideast, news, politics, war — gasdocpol @ 2:43 am

HE WANTS TO STAY IN IRAQ ANOTHER 100 YEARS. HE SAYS BOMB,BOMB, BOMB, BOMB IRAN.

NO !

We need a Commander-in-Chief who would have said in October 2002

“But I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history.

AS BARACH OBAMA SAID OCTOBER 26, 2002

WE NEED JOHN McCAIN LIKE WE NEED 8 MORE YEARS OF GW BUSH !

Remember the kid that got left back in the seventh grade?

Filed under: BARACK OBAMA, Bush, life, mideast, news, politics, war — gasdocpol @ 12:57 pm

He had more “experience” in the seventh grade than all the others. He should have done much better than anyone in the class. Did he?

Now if we did not have something other than “years of experience” to compare Hillary and Obama, we would have to say that it is very possible that her judgement might be better than that of Obama.

If we take the complex question of whether or not to invade Iraq, and we see that one of them was 100% wrong and the other was 100% right, we must conclude that the judgement of Obama was superior.

In order to get THAT question right, Obama needed to get several other questions right. Read carefully Obama’s words in October 2002 and appreciate how many things Obama got right and how many things Hillary got wrong.

IT WAS NOT JUST ONE LUCKY GUESS.

THE QUESTION IS JUDGEMENT NOT THE NUMBER OF YEARS OF “EXPERIENCE”

Filed under: BARACK OBAMA, Bush, life, mideast, news, politics, war — gasdocpol @ 12:41 pm

WHEN YOU ASK THE WRONG QUESTION, YOU GET A USELESS ANSWER.

Another example is that the question about Iraq SHOULD have been

“Even if,indeed, Saddam had WMDs, would he have been stupid, perverse and crazy enough to use them against the USA” (which spent more on the military than the next 12 countries in the world combined)? OK… Saddam was evil but was he so self-destructive as to provoque the USA quaranteeing that his country would be destroyed and he would lose power?

Hillary said “If I knew then what I know now….”

GUESS WHAT? OBAMA DID KNOW THEN BECAUSE HE SAID IN OCTOBER 2002.

I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars.

HILLARY APPARENTLY DID NOT KNOW ANY OF THOSE THINGS OR IF SHE DID , SHE DID NOT ATTACH THE THE SIGNIFICANCE OF THOSE THINGS OR DID NOT PRIORITISE THINGS PROPERLY OR LACKED UNDERSTANDING OF THE THE IMPACT, THAT THE PREEMPTIVE INVASION WOULD LIKELY HAVE ON INTERNATIONAL RELATIONS.

DOES OBAMA HAVE MORE COMMON SENSE THAN HILLARY AND CONSEQUENTLY DEVELLOPED BETTER JUDGEMENT THAN HILLARY IN FEWER “YEARS IN THE US SENATE”

As of 2004 Obama spent 8 years in the Illinois Senate and Hillary had spent 4 years in the US Senate. Now Hillary has 7 years in the US Senate and Obama has 3 years in the US Senate. It is as if Obama started in first grade and did primary school and is now a Junior in high School and Hillary started in high school and got left back a few times. THIS METAPHORE IS NOT COMPLETELY RIDICULOUS. There is some truth here.

BARACK WILL BE “OBAMA READY” ON DAY ONE…HE WILL NOT BE HILLARY READY

Filed under: BARACK OBAMA, Bush, life, mideast, news, politics, war — gasdocpol @ 2:52 pm

HE WILL BRING TO THE WHITE HOUSE INSIGHT AND EXPERIENCE HILLARY NEVER WILL HAVE.

a. Obama lived in a foreign culture (Indonesia) prior to stuying international affairs at Columbia University. Because of that ,Obama could better understand the abstract theory and probably allow him to conclude ” I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda”

b. Obama was a community organiser prior to studying law at Harvard unlike Hillary who went from College directly to law school without the benefit of experience in the streets and real world. Since The “Law” touches upon most aspects of human interaction, Obama studied all those things having much more real life experience in these matters.

Common sense would suggest that Saddam was neither stupid nor crazy enough to attack the USA which spent more on defense than the next 12 contries in the world combined.

“I also know that Saddam poses no imminent and direct threat to the United States, or to his neighbors, that the Iraqi economy is in shambles, that the Iraqi military a fraction of its former strength, and that in concert with the international community he can be contained until, in the way of all petty dictators, he falls away into the dustbin of history.”

This is just one example of the things that Obama KNEW but Hillary did not KNOW, by her own admission.

c. Obama spent 8 years in the Illinois Senate prior to serving in the US Senate. If anyone was ready on Day One to be a US Senator , it was Obama who unlike Hillary he needed minimal on the job training. He actually had BEEN an illinois Senator (not just married to one). I submit that he has been US Senator long enough to know how it works.

d. IF Washington had a better record of success and IF being an active First Lady and a few extra years in the US Senate constituted valid experience (already 2 big “ifs”) and IF Hillary had significantly gained judgement as a result of that “experience” it would be a sound argument that Hillary’s experience is something she brings to the table.

e. When Obama takes the oath of office, he will do so having taught Constitutional Law at a top Law School(University of Chicago) for 10 years

“I do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will faithfully execute the office of President of the United States, and will to the best of my ability, preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of the United States.”

f. By her own admission, Hillary did not know what Obama knew in October 2002 when he said

I know that an invasion of Iraq without a clear rationale and without strong international support will only fan the flames of the Middle East, and encourage the worst, rather than best, impulses of the Arab world, and strengthen the recruitment arm of al-Qaeda.

I am not opposed to all wars. I’m opposed to dumb wars.

I rest my case

HILLARY’S IDEA OF A SOLUTION TO 9/11-INVADE AN OIL RICH ARAB COUNTRY WHICH HAD NOT ATTACKED US AND NOT A DANGER TO USA

Filed under: BARACK OBAMA, Bush, life, mideast, news, politics, war — gasdocpol @ 3:19 pm

Is that going to be the the kind solutions Hillary will come up with on Day One?

It is more important to be right on Day One than to be ” Hillary ready” on Day One.

By her own admission Hillary did not know what Obama knew when she voted for the Iraq war.

Hillary was weak on her understanding of international affairs and the Mideast.

Hillary was weak on her understanding of military matters.

Hillary did not know that the Iraq war would be a dumb war.

GW BUSH AND HILLARY SET OUR HAIR ON FIRE

Filed under: BARACK OBAMA, Bush, life, medicine, mideast, news, politics, war — gasdocpol @ 10:59 pm

McCAIN SAYS WE NEED TO PUT THE FIRE OUT BY HITTING OURSELVES IN THE HEAD WITH A HAMMER.

Obama said the the Iraq invasion would be a big mistake.

I submit that Obama understands foreign affairs and intelligent civilian control of the military better than Hillary or McCain.
