McCain’s biggest weakness is his unwavering stand on the Iraq war. Barack Obama can say that the war was a mistake from the start and his view has been shared by most of the world, from whom we will need help to get out of the mess that GW Bush created.

McCain can say that Hillary was a staunch supporter of the war before it became unpopular. When Hillary brags about her 35 years of experience, McCain will tell what he was doing during those 35 years and before.

When Hillary says that she will be more ready to be Commander-in-chief on Day One than McCain, everyone will laugh at her.

  1. The real reason that a vote for Hillary in the primary is a vote for McCain in the general (a premise which I wholeheartedly agree with) is that McCain has firm support from independents and swing voters whereas Clinton is the epitome of divisiveness and polarization. The way the political lines are drawn at the moment, the swing voters can decide any US presidential race.

Not to say that your point isn’t well taken. But once a general election campaign starts and Hillary is running against John rather than Barack, she’ll stop pounding the experience drum so hard and start running on the economy. There’s no way she can beat John on foreign policy and national security, considering his credentials, so she’ll steer the conversation toward where she’s competitive. But she still won’t win.
