SHOULD THE PRESIDENT HAVE MILITARY EXPERIENCE?

Filed under: BARACK OBAMA, Bush, hillary clinton, John McCain, life, mideast, news, politics, war — gasdocpol @ 1:07 pm

US Grant was a briiliant General and a terrible President. Rutherford B. Hayes was a former general and a poor President.

Looking at our wartime Presidents

War of 1812 James Madison had no military experience (WON)

Civil war Abraham Lincoln Limited military service (During the Black Hawk War, Abraham Lincoln of New Salem, Illinois served three enlistments. Each enrollment lasted for approximately 30 days.)
(HIS SIDE WON)

World War One Woodrow Wilson had no military experience (WON)

World War Two FDR had no military experience (WON)

Korea Truman and Eisenhauer both had military experience (DRAW)

Vietnam JFK and Nixon had military experience (LOST)

DESERT STORM Bush the Elder had military experience (WON )

Kosovo Bill Clinton had no military experience (WON)

IRAQ/AFGANISTAN/IRAN GW Bush Military experience ? Outcome ? (I will leave that to you)

IN MY VIEW ONLY EISENHAUER HAD THE KIND OF MILITARY EXPERIENCE THAT IS RELEVANT TO BEING COMMANDER-IN-CHIEF. NIXON AS A NAVY LIEUTENANT COMMANDER MIGHT HAVE SOME RELAVANT INSIGHT . TRUMAN AS AN ARTILLARY CAPTAIN IN WORLD WAR ONE MIGHT HAVE SOME CLAIM.

EVEN IF,INDEED, McCAIN WERE A BONA FIDE WAR HERO (WHICH I QUESTION), I SUBMIT THAT THIS WOULD NOT FAVOR HIM BEING A GOOD PRESIDENT.

  1. anyone who was able to bring peace to a country without sending troops is the right president for any nation!
most of these people were killed-why that? trading is humans food in this world!
honesty and openhearted views do not fit into the ideal warrior! its not possible to win a fight purely base on traditional rules! seriousity lives in survival- knowing how to let anyone survive longer or shorter is a power no many people know to handle wisely! especial people in seats of leadership!

no experience in armylife is a biggergaruantee for non-violent actions inside and outside thoe own borderlines!

  2. I am no peacenik. Some wars need to be fought.

The Iraq invasion was particularly heinous. It was pushed by Chicken Hawks like Cheney who avoided going into harms way himself because he had other priorities but was happy to lie thousands of young Americans into early graves for imperialism which would benefit mainly big oil and the military-industrial complex.

  3. as you see in my responding i can’t be a peacenik myself! See i’m a prince!
my african tribe used to be one of the biggest tribes in ghana Africa! will there be changes in the style of wars i am asking?
its up to people like me to make changes in this! believe it or don’t ! recruting soldiers is one of the easiest things in a high seat position!
lets turn truth into truth! so you are right with all you said regarding that industrial complex etc. but there’s must be a modern and simply saying lowselfish interest in uniting and benefiting the interest of all people on this planet !
any nationalistic premier interest is unhelpful to a solid development towards more or less any project-today! the effect of mistreating simple rules of investment and
profit are more transparent to people than ever before! it’s getting harder and harder for anyone to risk his own buizynesses with a sense of true pride and joy to his own family! i think and work into a more low- to non-profit focused future of my intentions! all the best to you and thanks for your comment and response!
with great regards to your experiences!
